Camp Ramadan

  • Washington Waldorf School 4800 Sangamore Road Bethesda, MD, 20816 United States (map)

NWMI invites Muslims ages 3 to 16 to CampRamadan, a first-of-its-kind experience for fasting and almost-fasting youth.

Camp begins promptly each day at 10:30am in classes that have been divided according to age. Campers participate in enjoyable age-appropriate activities that help nurture Islamic identity through fostering peer relationships, praying daily in congregation, and teaching Islamic ethics in a way that kids like most: experiential FUN!

The activities and opportunities in the teen program vary. This year we are honored to welcome many carefully chosen professionals to teach their crafts, including professional photographers Ayesha Ahmad and Akbar Sayed and artist Nadia Janjua. Tweens and teens will also experience Islamic Arts with Josh Berer, long-time calligraphy student of the renown Mohamed Zakariya.

Campers ages 3 to 9 will have snacks provided throughout the day. However, campers ages 10 to 16 are encouraged to fast during camp hours. Water fountains of course are always available to non-fasting kids. Even if your child is not fasting for the entire day, attempting to do so for those five hours of camp helps them bond together in both their collective struggle and their enthusiastic sense of accomplishment.

Class size is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please register promptly!

Cost for all ages (3 to 16) is $225 for the first child and $200 per additional sibling. Financial assistance is available.

If you have any questions on financial assistance, or otherwise, please email us.
