Muharram Lecture - Al Husayn: Principles over Power

  • Jane E Lawton Community Center 4301 Willow Lane Chevy Chase, MD, 20815 United States (map)

This coming week begins the holy month of Muharram, the first month of the Hijri calendar and one of the four sacred months alluded to in The Holy Quran. The month brings many important opportunities for reflection and deepening of one's spiritual connection to the lives and lessons of the Prophet (SAWS) and Imams (A.S).

As we mark the beginning of the month of Muharram, we invite you to join us on Saturday for a special lecture from Irfaan Nooruddin on the teachings of Imam Al-Husayn ibn Ali (A.S).

Irfaan is a financial consultant and faith leader in Washington, D.C. where he lives with his wife and daughter. He studied the basic Islamic Sciences under Shaykh Khalil Al-Majdalawi, former Dean of the College of Principles of Religion & Islamic Call at Abou Noor University in Damascus, Syria. With a mission of "inward excellence and outward service to the community" Irfaan is a founding member of the Al-Madina Institute and serves on the board of the Yaro Collective.

A children's program for youth ages 10 years and younger will be provided by teachers from the Al-Hadi Learning Organization. Dinner will follow the lecture.
