Children’s Program Support Staff

NWMI is seeking childcare support staff to assist the Children’s Program Event Lead in implementing programming for children during NWMI events. S/he must have a passion for helping others and excellent interpersonal skills, an approachable demeanor, and will enjoy having direct contact with volunteers and community members. This is a flexible, paid position that would entail engaging children through games, crafts, and storytelling. Enthusiasm for working with small children is a must! Opportunities for students also available as well.


  • Assist with creating lesson plans, activity prep and games ahead of time

  • Assist in age-appropriate discussions about Islamic holidays, stories, etc.

  • Assist with circle-time, including games, songs, and stories

  • Assist children in craft creation

  • Supervise games

  • Assist children in basic needs (meals, hand-washing, etc.)

  • Submit post-event summary form


  • Strong candidates will be able to manage and engage children

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A consummate team player with a flexible and creative approach

  • Experience in professional volunteer management, public relations, special events and networking is a plus

Hours & Pay

  • During the entirety of a NWMI program

  • $10-15 per hour depending on experience
