Join us for an evening of reflection, remembrance, and renewal as we commemorate Arba’een, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn. More than a memorial, Arba’een marks the moment when remembrance becomes commitment—a time to move beyond recalling the sacrifices of Karbala and renew our pledge to uphold our Islamic values of faith, justice, dignity, and truth.

Hosted by our NWMI Teen Council, the evening will begin with an engaging and interactive activity for teens and families, followed by a thought-provoking discussion led by Irfaan Noorideen on the moral responsibility to bear witness and speak the truth in the face of injustice.

The program will also feature a screening of Mawkib al-Ebaa (The Caravan of Pride), a moving film that chronicles the arduous journey and suffering of the captives of Karbala, including our Prophet’s beloved granddaughter, Lady Zaynab, and great-grandson, Imam Zayn al-Abideen. Through their unwavering courage and resilience, they preserved the message of Karbala and ensured that the truth of what transpired would endure for generations.

Irfaan Nooruddin is a Washington, D.C.-based financial management data leader. He studied traditional Islamic sciences under Shaykh Khalil Al-Majdalawi and co-founded the Al-Madina Institute, an organization delivering modern, practical Islamic education through global seminars, publications, and multimedia. Locally, he serves on initiatives seeking to foster an inclusive, creative, and culturally relevant Muslim community. He lives with his wife, mother in-law and daughters.
