...Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.” — Qur'an 13:28

Join us for a transcendent evening of worship and remembrance as we connect with the divine in the closing days of Ramadan.

We will begin with Quranic recitation, move into a guided spiritual practice, and end the evening with Dua Joshan Kabir. We will practice techniques like dhikr, mindfulness, and gratitude meditation led by our esteemed guest Imam Hicham Hall to nurture our hearts and spirit.

Participants will have the opportunity to calm the mind, remain in the present, and apply these tools to enhance our daily lives and express our thankfulness to Allah.

Light refreshment will be served, and registration is required.  Don't miss this beautiful opportunity to nourish your soul in the final days of the holy month!

About Imam Hicham Hall

Imam Hicham Hall was born in Tangier, Morocco to a convert Scottish-American father and Moroccan mother, and grew up in the DMV. He has served at the Islamic Society of Western Maryland, MAS DC, PEARLS, and ADAMS as youth mentor, community halaqa leader, khateeb, and Imam for nearly 10 years.

Imam Hicham began his private studies with local students of knowledge and Imams. He attended Zaytuna College followed by traditional studies overseas. Hicham graduated from George Mason with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Islamic Thought. Seeking additional traditional knowledge, he spent more time overseas studying with his teachers and continues to do so remotely. He is currently concluding his MA in Islamic Studies at Bayan.

He is most passionate about helping develop a culturally relevant Islam and nurturing the hearts, not only the minds. His proclivity for the fields of Ihsan and Tazkiya is a result of his personal journey of turning inwardly and realizing that the religious and spiritual “battle” is won and lost at the level of the heart, as Allah says in Al-Shu’araa: “The day where neither your wealth nor children will be of benefit—[the only ones saved] will be those who come to Allah with pure hearts.” (26: 87-88)

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌۭ وَلَا بَنُونَ

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍۢ

Imam Hicham serves as the lead Imam at ADAMS Gainesville and heads the Da’wa & New Muslim department. He grew up playing football, wrestling, and loving the outdoors. He joined the Armed Services after high school and was honorably discharged as a Conscientious Objector. He spent several years supporting his family working as an ER Technician. He is married, has three children and lives on a homestead.

Family Fun Night

Join us for an unforgettable evening of bonding, camaraderie, and healthy competition at our first ever TRIVIA NIGHT!

5:45pm: Doors Open. We ask that you arrive promptly when doors open. Once a trivia round is in progress, late arrivals will not be able to enter the main hall until the break in between rounds. Each round will last ~15 minutes. (If you miss the first round, you’ve already given the other teams a huge advantage!)

6:00pm: Trivia Begins. The game will run approximately 75 minutes. You must be seated before each round begins to participate in that round. We will play four rounds of trivia with teams of up to 8 players each. (Each table will constitute a team.) The team with the highest total score after all four rounds will win a prize!

Following the game and awarding of prizes, we will break fast, pray salat, and enjoy a delicious iftar buffet together.

Important note: The beauty of NWMI’s community comes from its incredible diversity. To respect one facet of that diversity—differing schools of thought—we will have dates and water available for those who break their fast promptly at sunset (7:24pm). We will then pray together (~7:40pm). Dinner will be served immediately after prayer.

Registration is required and space is limited. Please note that this is a ticketed event. The cost per ticket is $10 for ages 8 and up.

We look forward to an evening of trivia, iftar, and bonding with you!

Teen Iftar & Adventure

“On earth there are signs for those with sure faith — and in yourselves too, do you not see?” — Qur'an 51:20-21

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

In His infinite mercy, Allah (swt) has filled this world with signs, or “clues,” pointing to the ultimate Creator. Playing off this theme, teens and young adults are invited to hone their ability to spot and interpret clues all around them!

We’ve booked every single room at Escapology in Bethesda for a special night of food, friendship, and fun. After a check-in and communal maghrib prayer at Escapology, the group will break fast with a mouth-watering iftar from Roaming Rooster.

With calories on board, brains fueled, and ready for the games to begin, participants will then be placed into one of four age groups and locked inside themed rooms. The groups must find hidden clues, crack codes, and solve challenging puzzles to complete their missions and escape before time runs out!

Regardless of whether the groups are victorious in their missions, they can all celebrate their triumphs in overcoming the challenges of fasting, remaining steadfast in faith, and strengthening their Muslim identity.

The cost for this event is $30 per participant (ages 13 to 22). Space is limited so register now!

Saturday, October, 28th, 2023
7:30pm - 10pm

In context of the current conflict, Muslims across the DMV are facing a steep uptick in discrimination in both school and the work place. Come learn your civil rights so you can stand in solidarity with confidence. We will begin the night with an engaging panel discussion and end in communal supplication — empowered by both knowledge and faith. (Tea and coffee will be provided courtesy of the conference center.)
