+ When does camp begin and end each day?

Campers need to be dropped off by 9:00 a.m. and picked up promptly at 3:00 p.m.

+ How early can I drop my child off at camp? What is the latest I can pick my child up?

Parents can line up in the drop off lane beginning at 8:45 a.m. All parents should arrive for pick up no later than 3:00 p.m.

+ What do campers do all day?

We believe that a high-quality program promotes long-term spiritual and social development of campers. Our professional educators have planned a series of hands-on activities (e.g. arts and crafts, science experiments, and projects), games, and sports. Teachers plan activities with a focus on children having fun while learning something new!

+ How can I prepare my camper to have a great time at camp?

We find that our campers are most successful when they know what to expect. You can help your camper prepare by going over expectations before they even get to camp. Most importantly, campers always seem to find joy when they attend with a positive outlook!

+ What should my child bring to camp every day?

Each day, campers should arrive with a backpack filled with a water bottle, sunhat, packed lunch & snack, and an extra set of clothes (in case they get wet in play). In addition, we highly recommend all campers apply sunscreen (and bug spray if desired) at home before arriving to camp.

+ Is technology (cell phones, tablets, etc.) allowed at camp?

To ensure that campers are fully engaged in their activities and that their valuables stay safe, we ask that electronic devices be kept at home. Devices such as cell phones, ipods, etc. will be allowed only if campers need to communicate with their parents.

+ What are camp-wide activities?

Camp-wide activities are just that - activities in which all campers participate together. An example of a camp-wide activity is the congregational prayer (Salat al-Dhuhr).

+ How are campers placed into groups?

All groups are co-ed. Campers are divided into groups based on age.

+ What is the camper-to-teacher ratio?

Each group is limited to 15 campers. Each group will have one lead teacher and one teen counselor. An additional teacher and the Director will always be floating around amongst the groups present for extra support.

+ What COVID-safety precautions is CampNWMI taking to ensure the safety of campers and staff?

The Camp Team will be matching any Montgomery County Public School protocols. If masks are still required in schools, we will follow that guidance and likely require them at camp as well. We also will ensure that all staff are vaccinated and boosted at least 1 month prior to the camp start.

+ What if my child does not want to wear a mask?

If we make it a requirement, we cannot accept unmasked children. If the child is unwilling to wear a mask for extended periods of time, this drop-off day camp might not be the right fit. Camp is nearly 6 hours long. We encourage those who register to have practiced masking for many hours at a time and feel comfortable with the expected protocol.

+ Are there bathrooms on site?

Yes! There is a physical (gender-segregated) bathroom facility on site (not a porta potty).

+ What if a young camper is not potty trained?

All campers must be potty trained. Given the outdoor nature of this year’s camp, we do not have the facilities to change diapers.

+ In this year's all-outdoor summer camp, are there any shaded areas?

In addition to a huge park shelter, we will install several pop-up tents on site. These will serve as ‘safe zones’ for campers to remove a mask to drink from their water bottles and also provide sun shelter as needed.

+ What if rain is forecasted on a camp day?

Camp will be held rain or shine. Children are asked to dress for the weather. In the unlikely case a camp day is canceled due to thunder or lightening, we will do our best to offer refunds if needed.

+ What is your refund policy?

Full refunds will be offered up to 30 days prior to the first date of camp. For extenuating circumstances, such as complications with health or safety, please contact the Camp Director, Sabera Husain, at sabera@nwmi.org.
