The Peaceful Futures Program
As parents, families, and communities, we have the best intentions for the positive future lives of our youth. We teach them to drive safely, ensure they are prepared academically for college, and model for them specific skills for their employment life. Yet in areas such as Muslim identity, establishing healthy family relationships, identifying the warning signs of domestic violence, understanding the cyber world, and other life-saving skills, we often assume they will figure it out on their own.
Join Sr. Haleema Rehman and Br. Zeki Mokhtarzada in an eight-module course designed to create dialogue with young American Muslims about how to foster healthy relationships, resolve conflict, navigate cyberspace and more! The curriculum was prepared by the Peaceful Families Project.
High School students may apply to participate in the program. Participation requires a commitment to attend ALL 8 sessions of the program. We will be meeting on the following Saturday mornings from 10am -11:30am and will cover the following topics:
June 4: Islam & Healthy Relationships
June 11: Islam & Gender Roles
June 18: Islam & Healthy Relationship Skills
June 25: Islam & Family Relationships
July 9: Islam & Reproductive Health/Development
July 16: Islam, Mental Health & Addiction
July 30: Islam & Cyber Citizenship
Aug 6: Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity in Islam
